Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
